BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama A&M freshman pitcher Esperanza Coe (Beaumont, Calif.) has earned her fifth Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Softball Weekly Award, this time Co-Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Friday, April 23.
 
As she has all year long, Coe pulled double duty at the plate and in the circle over the course of three games this past week at Jackson State. In those outings she went 5-of-9 for a .556 batting average and added an RBI while throwing a pair of complete games. She posted an ERA of 4.08 with nine strikeouts and just one walk in 12 innings.
 
She would go 2-for-3 at the plate in each of the first two games, with an RBI in the second, before posting a 1-for-3 effort in the finale. As a pitcher she tossed a pair of six-inning complete games, allowing four earned runs against two strikeouts in the opener before ringing up seven and scattering six hits and three earned runs in a narrow 3-2 defeat.
 
She was named Co-Pitcher of the Week on March 25, Player of the Week on April 1 and then swept both awards on April 7.
 
Coe and Alabama A&M softball are back in action on Tuesday, April 27 to complete a three-game series against rival Alabama State that was delayed this weekend by rain. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
