BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For a second straight week, Alabama A&M senior Akia Slaughter (Smyrna, Ga.) has been named Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week as announced by the league on Sunday, April 4.

Facing a stacked field of Southeastern Conference foes, Slaughter came up big once again for Alabama A&M as she notched a pair of Top-10 finishes.
 
Those would be a 9-of-42 outing in the 100-meters (11.98) and a 10-of-60 finish in the 200-meters with a time of 24.22. In the latter, seven of the individuals in front of her hailed from the SEC while four did so in the 100-meters.
