BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the third time this year, Alabama A&M senior Akia Slaughter (Smyrna, Ga.) has been named Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 25 and announced by the league this past weekend.

Competing at the N.C. A&T Aggie Classic on Saturday, April 24, Slaughter delivered two of the Bulldogs five top five finishes.
 
Headlining that effort was a 2-of-23 performance in the 200-meters with a time of 24.30 and 4-of-37 effort in the 100-meters at 12.20.

The Bulldogs and Slaughter are back in action this weekend as they travel to Prairie View, Texas for the 2021 SWAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships from May 6-8.
