Alabama A&M bowling got things going with a 12-of-15 finish at the Colonial Lanes Classic hosted by Tulane from October 14-16.

Alabama A&M Bowling Finishes 12th At Tulane’s Colonial Lanes Classic To Open Season

HARAHAN, La. – Alabama A&M won a pair of qualifying matches on Day 1 of the 2022 Colonial Lanes Classic and placed 12-of-15 overall in the tournament concluding on Sunday, October 16.
 
The Bulldogs went 2-3 in the qualifying round on Day 1, falling 974-814 in their opener against Sam Houston State before notching a 914-876 victory over rival Alabama State next time out. They would then down Texas Southern 846-825 for their second win before falling to Prairie View 949-877 and Lincoln Memorial 808-802.
 
In Traditional play on the second day, A&M would fall to host Tulane 958-837, Stephen F. Austin 916-894, North Carolina A&T 1,010-901 and Alabama-Birmingham 885-841.
 
Individually, junior Nariya Jackson (Fort Wayne, Ind.) led the way with a 29-of-99 finish that saw her register a pinfall of 184.20 while Alexis Orchard was 37th at 176.80. Jackson would post her high-water mark of 199, that coming in her third match, while Orchard bowled a 194 that same match.
 
Rose Ugbinada was the next highest finisher at 40 as she had a pinfall of 173.20 and a high of 189 in the fourth match. Tamyra Long was ranked No. 66 as she finished at 182.00 and a high of 208 to round out the top performers.
 
The Bulldogs are now off until the end of the month when they head to the Valpo Bowling Classic from October 28-30. That tournament will be hosted by Valparaiso at Stardust Bowl III in Dyer, Indiana.
