JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Alabama A&M women's track and field was led by the distant medley relay as they returned to action at the Buccaneer Track and Field Invitation on Friday, February 4.
Junior
Aneisha Ingram (Frankfield, Jamaica), senior
Shanique Masters (St.Catherine, Jamaica) and freshmen
De'Ajene Johnson (Frankfield, Mich.) and
Taylor Wingo (D'Iberville, Miss.) anchored the Bulldogs performance as they finished 4-of-9 in the distance medley relay notching a time of 13:37.75.
Graduate
Jairyn Russell (Birmingham, Ala.) was one of the top performers in the 60-meters, posting a time of 7.90 in the preliminaries of that event to advance to the semifinals. She would then stop the clock at 9.93 to place 22-of-76.
Joining her was junior
Brayanna Washington (Atlanta, Ga.) with a 39
th place finish and in a time of 8.28 while Masters had the best showing for AAMU in the 400-meters, crossing the line in 1:02.39 to finish 18-of-55. Johnson was not far behind, finishing 24-of-55 in a time of 1:02.94.
The Bulldogs will be back in action as they return to the Birmingham CrossPlex on Sunday, February 12 for the Bulldog Open hosted by Samford.
