Alabama A&M Softball Continues Eight Game Homestand as Florida A&M Makes First Visit To Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Alabama A&M (6-14, 1-4 SWAC) softball continues their season-high eight-game homestand as they host Florida A&M (7-19, 2-4 SWAC) at Bulldog Field for the first time in recorded history from March 25-26.

The Bulldogs come in having taken the series opener from Jackson State (3/19) by a 6-5 score in eight innings before dropping 6-1 and 9-7 decisions on March 20. FAMU enters having won two in a row with 5-3 and 5-0 victories over Mississippi Valley State on March 18 and 19. Those wins snapped a six-game losing streak for the Rattlers.

SERIES HISTORY
Dating back to the 2005 season, Florida A&M holds a 5-0 advantage in the all-time series. That series stretches to the first recorded meeting on March 23, 2005 when the Rattlers notched a doubleheader sweep, 12-0 and 6-1, in Tallahassee, Fla.

The teams would meet four years later in Conyers, Georgia with FAMU notching an 8-3 victory on February 7, 2009 before a 10-2 decision on March 3, 2012 back in Conyers. Their most recent meeting came on March 1, 2014 with a 6-0 decision in Birmingham, Alabama. This will be the first meeting between the teams at Bulldog Field and their first series as Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) opponents.
