Neha Ghare (Pune, India) dropped a narrow 6-4 decision to Payton Andrews and Gabriela Cevallos at the top spot.
Having secured the doubles point, UNA claimed the first three singles matches, Nos. 4, 3 and 2, in short order to wrap up the match yet the Bulldogs would not fade away. Despite the matter at hand being decided A&M would rally to finish the match strong.
Woods got Alabama A&M on the board with a hard fought 6-4, 6-2 victory over Nicole Reilly at No. 6 before Boyd battled past Andrews 7-5, 6-3 at the top spot. They would then round out the 4-3 loss as Ghare took a three set decision, 4-6, 6-3, 10-8, from Cevallos at No. 5.
The Bulldogs begin the most important stretch of their season as they head to Montgomery, Alabama for four Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) matches from March 10-13. That stretch will begin against Mississippi Valley State at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 10 and will be followed with 9 a.m. outings against Florida A&M (3/11), Prairie View (3/12) and Alcorn State (3/13).
