Story No. 10: Men's Tennis Delivers Impressive Accolades
Coming off a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Championship a year ago, senior
Natiphat Mulada (Korat, Thailand)
became just the second league Player of the Year in the program's Division I history. He was also named All-SWAC First-Team with freshman
Matis Torres Ramis (Mallorca, Spain) landing on the Second-Team. This was the
fourth time with multiple selections dating back to 2006 and the fifth time with an honoree in the past 17 years.
The Bulldogs
earned the No. 4 seed in the SWAC Tournament and
advanced to the semifinals with a 4-0 victory over Mississippi Valley State (4/22)before closing the season against
No.1 seed Alabama State (4/23).
In the regular season, Alabama A&M
notched a straight sets 7-0 victory against MVSU (3/10), securing a pair of
6-0 scores in doubles and sweeping all six singles matches 6-0, 6-0.
Another
memorable match for the season was AAMU's 4-0 victory over Prairie View (3/18). A&M then sealed the regular season with a
5-2 non-conference win against Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) member, Tennessee State (4/10).
