HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Alabama A&M (0-4, 0-0 SWAC) football returns home for one of the highlights of the schedule as they host Bethune-Cookman (1-2, 1-0 SWAC) on Homecoming on Saturday, October 1. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at Louis Crews Stadium.
WHERE TO WATCH
Fans can get full coverage on air through a live broadcast on the
Bulldog Sports Network as well as through
live stats and catch up on all the action following the game on
www.AAMUSports.com, the official online home of Alabama A&M Athletics.
WHAT TO KNOW
Its Homecoming so its no ordinary event and with that come a number of things that are out of the ordinary for Bulldog fans to know.
Traffic patterns, parking, concession, tailgating, what not to bring and what not to do – all of these important things to know, as well as many others, are all in the
2022 AAMU Football Gameday Guide. On top of that, make sure to check out
Gameday Central for anything else that is key for A&M fans during Homecoming.
A MAROON WAVE AND THE GREEKS WILL RISE AGAIN
Louis Crews Stadium usually glistens a sort of shiny silver as the sun glints off its metal bleachers but on Saturday, October 1 it will be a Sea of Maroon. All fans are encouraged to wear the maroon and make it a Maroon Wave.
While the high powered sound system will blare throughout per the norm, it will also produce the sounds of the Greek communities on campus as it will also be Greek Day.
A TALE OF TWO HALVES
It was the best of halves, it was the worst of halves – at least it was in the Bulldogs' opener at Florida A&M (9/24).
Taking on the Rattlers in Tallahassee, A&M built a 19-7 lead just before half only to allow a late score to cut it to cut it to a five-point margin. It would be the score that would begin a stretch of 31 straight points for FAMU and propel them to a 38-19 advantage with 10 minutes to play in the game.
Junior quarterback
Xavier Lankford (Pelham, Ala.) snapped that stretch with a 29-yard touchdown strike to senior wide receiver
Cameron Young (Daphne, Ala.) to reach the final margin of 38-25. He would finish his day with 180 yards on 18-of-28 passing, that TD and 81 yards on 11 carries – 64 of that coming on one scramble up the middle.
ABOUT THE GAME
The B-CU game will mark the first time that the Bulldogs have played consecutive games against teams from the State of Florida in at least the program's NCAA Division I history.
They are coming off a trip to Florida A&M last week and, paired with that one, this will be just the fourth game against a Florida school in that time. Last season A&M traveled to face the Wildcats on September 16 and hosted FAMU a month later on October 16.
It also marks the frontend of the only time that Alabama A&M will play at home in back-to-back weeks during the 2022 season. The following week they welcome Grambling to Louis Crews.
Beyond who the opponent is, the game is one of the most anticipated on the schedule with it being Homecoming 2022, bringing with it all of the pomp and circumstance with one of the premier events of the season.
RACKING UP THE HONORS (SEASON EDITION)
While more than half the roster is new the returnees are well known and have racked up the preseason recognition.
That started with three All-SWAC Preseason selections as senior running back
Gary Quarles (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) and senior wide receiver
Abdul-Fatai Ibrahim (Miramar, Fla.) earned Second-Team while junior offensive lineman
Carson Vinson (Cary, N.C.) was selected to the Second-Team.
Quarles and Ibrahim would add to the mantle with the latter picking up Stats Perform FCS Preseason Third-Team All-American honors while both he and the diminutive tailback were named to the BOXTOROW Preseason All-American Team.
Ibrahim is also now a 10-time All-American following his most recent honor, a Second-Team selection by Hero Sports and both he and Quarles have been named to the prestigious Deacon Jones Award Watch list representing the top player from a Historically Black College or University (HBCU).
MORE THAN 70-PERCENT OF A SEASON IN THE SPOTLIGHT
The Bulldogs are a popular choice to hit the airwaves in 2022 as more than 70-percent of their season will be on national television.
In an 11-game schedule, A&M will be featured six times by traditional networks, beginning with CBS Sports Network carrying the season-opening UAB contest. Also being picked up will be Troy (ESPN3), Florida A&M (ESPN+), Alabama State (ESPN Networks), Mississippi Valley State (ESPNU) and Jackson State (ESPN+).
That slate plays to the fan that can't get to all the road games as every single one of those six games are on the road. A&M will also see a pair of home games aired on the new endeavor that is HBCUGo, with those being the October 8 game against Grambling and the regular season finale with Texas Southern on November 19.

ABOUT THE BETHUNE-COOKMAN UNIVERSITY WILDCATS
The Wildcats visit Louis Crews Stadium sporting a 1-2 overall record and 1-0 mark in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play but it might as well just be .500.
The first of those saw B-CU take on Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and Power 5 member Miami (9/3) in what ended up being a 70-13 blowout. They followed that up with a 33-9 defeat at the hands of fellow Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) member South Carolina State (9/10) the next week before throttling Grambling 36-19 (9/24) last weekend.
LET'S GET SERIE-OUS
With the scarcity of games against schools from the State of Florida it shouldn't be a surprise that there is not much of a series history against the Wildcats. In fact, in the last 43 years, the teams have met only once with that coming last year.
That game would come on September 16, 2021 when the Bulldogs pulled out a thrilling 30-27 victory over B-CU on ESPNU, and that in a driving rainstorm.
