NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Alabama A&M women's tennis will begin their spring schedule on the road this weekend, as they travel to face Lipscomb on Friday, January 20, at Ensworth High School, with a start time of 6 p.m.
The Bulldogs held a 6-15 mark overall and 5-4 in conference play last season and are returning a pair of Second Team All-SWAC performers in juniors
Neha Ghare (Pune, India) and
Camila Ruiz Diaz (Asuncion, Paraguay). Ghare earned hers at the No. 5 spot going 7-2 at that position and 8-8 overall and 4-9 in doubles, while Ruiz Diaz was 6-2 at No. 4 and 8-7 overall. She was a perfect 5-0 in singles in SWAC play while Ghare was 5-1.
Senior
Jasmine Boyd (Marion, Ind.) is another key returner, anchoring the No. 1 spot for both singles and doubles, holding an 8-8 and 4-9 record respectively. She is also coming off winning the HBCU National Championship, helping the Bulldogs finish in third overall in the event last fall.
Alabama A&M and Lipscomb has met six times over the last 20 years, with the lone win from the Bulldogs being in Nashville on January 28, 2006. Lipscomb has taken the last five matches, with the programs last meeting in 2015.
