HUNTSVILLE, Ala. __ Alabama A&M women's tennis will return to action this week with a midweek match on campus as they host UAB on Thursday, with a start time set for 1 p.m.
The Bulldogs (4-3, 3-0 SWAC) won all three of their matches last weekend in the SWAC Women's Tennis Pod, hosted in Jackson, Mississippi. They defeated Southern on Friday, 4-2, before beating Grambling State and Bethune-Cookman 5-0 and 4-0 respectively.
Yana Dhamija (Gurugram, India) leads A&M in wins so far in singles competition at 4-3 on the year, followed by
Jasmine Boyd (Marion, Ind.) at 3-2, and
Alicia Owegi (Nairobi, Kenya) at 3-3.
Neha Ghare (Pune, India) and
Camila Ruiz Diaz (Asuncion, Paraguay) also have won two games each, at 2-4 and 2-3 marks respectively.
In doubles play, the pairing of Boyd and Dhamija are undefeated so far at 3-0, while
Deja Brown (Spring Valley, Calif.) and Ruiz Diaz are 2-3 and Ghare and Owegi are 2-2 on the year.
UAB (5-4, 0-0 C-USA) had won three straight and four out of five matches before falling in a 7-0 sweep at Auburn on February 19. Both Annalisa Smith and Adela Wasserbauerova have double digit wins on the year in singles play at 11 and 10 respectively, followed by Sydney Clark with nine and two others with seven wins. Their top pairing in doubles play is Mackenzie White and Wasserbauerova, who are a perfect 7-0 while playing together, while Clarke and Maggie White are 7-4 as a pairing.
