HUNTSVILLE, Ala. __ Prepping for their final weekend tournament of the regular season, Alabama A&M softball (6-6) will head to Baton Rouge to take part in the Defend the Bluff event, hosted by Southern at Lady Jaguar Field.

The Bulldogs will face Louisiana Christian on Friday for a 3 p.m. start, before taking on Southern later at 5:30 p.m. On Saturday, A&M will play the same two teams at 12 noon and 2:30 p.m. to close out weekend play.

Winners of their last four games, Alabama A&M has found their offense lately, scoring six or more runs in all four contests. Four batters have recorded double figure hit totals, led by
Venice Sanders (Birmingham, Ala.) at 19, followed by
Allyson Riches (Sacramento, Calif.). with 15, and
Faith Cross (Pulaski, Tenn.) and
Zahria Jones (Huntsville, Ala.) at 13. Sanders also is 14th in Division I in runs batted in per game at 1.44 per contest.
Louisiana Christian is coming in at 10-5 on the year and has won four straight games after sweeping Blue Mountain on the road, followed by another doubleheader sweep over Texas College at home. The xxx are also 5-2 in neutral site games so far.

Southern has struggled so far, holding a 1-13 record coming into the weekend, dropping five straight games. The Bulldogs and Jaguars previously met last weekend in the HBCU Heritage Classic in Montgomery, where A&M took a 10-8 win in walk off fashion.
