HUNTSVILLE – Alabama A&M softball will remain at home this weekend as they will host Mississippi Valley State for a three-game series, beginning on Friday, March 24 at 1 p.m. at the Bulldog Softball Field.
 
Alabama A&M (11-11, 2-4 SWAC) is coming off a series against the rival Hornets at home that was completed on Tuesday due to weather, dropping a pair of games in the series before winning the final game to avoid the sweep.
 
Senior Venice Sanders has continued her stellar individual play at the plate on the year, leading the team in batting average (.537), hits (36), runs (22), RBI (26), and home runs (7). She ranks fourth nationally in batting average, along with seventh and 18th in slugging percentage and triples per game respectively.
 
As a team, the Bulldogs currently lead the SWAC in home runs per game (0.73) and slugging percentage (0.449), while holding ranks among the top of the league in triples, batting average, and runs scored.
 
Mississippi Valley State (0-19) is still in search of their first win on the year, and are coming off a loss in a midweek matchup against Grambling State at home in Itta Bena. Brianna Alston leads the way at the plate for the Delta Devillettes so far with a .300 average from the plate to go along with 33 hits, 14 runs and eight RBI.
 
After the opening meeting on Friday, the two programs will meet on Saturday at 12 noon, before concluding the series on Sunday at 11 a.m.
