TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | Alabama A&M University women's cross country runner
Sanyae Gibson logged a time of 19:33.2 and finished fifth to earn First Team honors as the Bulldogs placed fourth in the 2024 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Cross Country Championships at the Apalachee Regional Park.

"I am so proud of the these young ladies and what they've accomplished," Alabama A&M head coach
Andrew Murphy said. "Last year we finished third so we fell short of achieving that goal, but the young ladies ran well today. Sanyae is a tremendous young runner and proud of how hard she has worked to get to this level."

Alabama A&M had two runners inside the top 20 and four total inside the top 25.

Gibson paced AAMU by placing fifth and
Taylor Wingo claimed the 14
th spot, logging a time of 20:17.1 Nevah Carrizal and
Minka Isom were 24
th and 25
th, respectively, with times of 21:16.2 and 21:21.5.
Tamijah Scriven rounded out the team scoring in 30
th, logging a time of 21:44.6.

Alabama A&M garnered 94 points to finish fourth as Alabama State edged Florida A&M to win the title. The Hornets recorded 47 points, followed by the Rattlers at 49 points and Prairie View A&M captured third with 91 points. Southern (155) was fifth, followed by Arkansas-Pine Bluff (164), Alcorn State (173), Bethune-Cookman (189), Jackson State (200), Mississippi Valley State (247) and Grambling State (311).

Alabama State's Shamia Jones was the individual champion in 19:16.3.
