D'Iberville, Miss | The Alabama A&M University bowling team placed first at the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) West Round-Up, finishing with a 11-3 record over the weekend. The Bulldogs were paced by Nila Dulcio and Rose Ugbinada's 2,770 and 2,655 pins. The tournament, hosted at Cypress Lane was attended by all eight teams in the conference. The victory marks the third first place finish this season for the Bulldogs.

Two of seven Bulldogs found themselves in the top 15 of the scoring list, with Dulcio and Ugbinada in seventh and 13th place respectively. The Maroon and White dropped a pair of matches to Prairie View A&M and a match to Southern University. AAMU will return to Cypress Lanes for the 2025 SWAC East Round-Up on February 7-9.The results of the East and West round ups will determine the regular season conference champions

Player Performances: 

• Nila Dulcio: Averaged 197.86 over five games and rolled 248 pins against Southern University. 

• Rose Ugbinada: Averaged 189.64 with her best performance in the fourth traditional match, rolling a 231 against Texas Southern  

• Tamyra Long: Averaged 186.29, with her best performance in the match against Alabama State, where she rolled 224 pins and landing 17th overall 

• Alexis Orchard: Had a strong showing with an average of 186.54 over 13 of 14, including 218 pins in the game versus Jackson State games 

• Anya Nelson: Contributed with an average of 181.0 over eight games, including a 214-pin performance against Grambling State  

• Samantha Mason: Averaged 157.25 over four games 

• Megan Whorton: Added 487 pins over three games
