THE HILL | The Alabama A&M University softball head coach Brian Daley announced the 2025 schedule, which features three-season opening tournaments, and 11 home games at the Bulldog Softball Field.
AAMU went 9-27 overall last season, including 5-19 in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play, including wins over Alabama State, Jackson State and Florida A&M.
"The coaching staff is looking forward to improving on a nine-win season in 2024,"Â Daley said, "Every player on the roster is important and every player a role to play in this seasons success. The Bulldogs will play a rigorous non-conference schedule against Texas, USF, New Mexico State, Troy University and Tennessee State".
The Bulldogs will open the season with 10 games in two tournaments and the Rocket City Softball Showcase. AAMU will face Arlington Baptist, Alcorn State, and Grambling State in the River City Classic on February 7-9. The Bulldogs then travel to Covington, Georgia for the HBCU Classic, where they will face South Carolina State, Fort Valley State, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Coppin State and North Carolina A&T University over Valentines Day weekend. AAMU will return to Huntsville to participate in the Rocket City Softball Showcase against Albany State University at Toyota Field. The team will stay in Rocket City and host Oakland University for their first home games of the season on February 25 and 26.
The Bulldogs head to the Lone Star state to take on Incarnate World and to compete in the University of Texas Tournament, where they will face the host team, as well as the University of South Florida and New Mexico State from February 28 to March 2. Â AAMU returns to the Bulldog Softball Field where it will host the University of Detroit Mercy, and Southwestern Athletic Conference opponent Mississippi Valley State March 3-8. The Bulldogs stay in Alabama as they travel to Troy on March 12Â and Montgomery to face SWAC rival Alabama State on March 14 and 15. Alabama A&M will conclude the month by hosting conference opponents Florida A&M on March 21 and 22, and Jackson State on March 28 and 29.Â
AAMU will compete in nine games in April, seven of them on the road. The Bulldogs travel to the sunshine state to take on conference foe Bethune-Cookman on March 4 and 5. The Bulldogs travel some 110 miles North and face Ohio Valley Conference opponent Tennessee State University before returning to Florida for another swing against FAMU. Alabama A&M will host Alabama State on March 18 and 19 before ending the regular season at MVSU on March 25-26.Â
The SWAC Tournament will be May 5-9 in Gulfport, Mississippi. Â
