SPARTANBURG, S.C. | The Alabama A&M University women's cross country team placed 10
th during Saturday's Upstate Invite at the Milliken Research Center.
Alabama A&M, in its final tune-up race before the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Cross Country Championships, recorded 274 points to earn the 10
th spot as Jacksonville State won the meet with 35 points.
The College of Charleston placed second with 63 points, followed by UNC Asheville (79), Western Carolina (156), Longwood (169), Campbell (182), UNC Greensboro (242), Winthrop (255) and Georgia Southern (269).
Laura Avila led AAMU with a 34
th-place finish, logging a time of 18:40.0, while
Sanyae Gibson took 38
th in 18:44.9.
Brianna Samuels crossed in 18::58.7 to take 55
th and
Minka Isom was 82
nd, with a time of 19:31.6.
Nevaeh Carrizal (20:03.5) and
Kayla Fluker (22:33.1) rounded out the Bulldog scoring.
Jacksonville State's Viola Jepleting won the meet, with a time of 17:28.5.
Alabama A&M concludes its season on Monday, Oct. 27 at the SWAC Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, Fla.
