Beal, Walker Garner SWAC Weekly Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama A&M University women's basketball players Rakiyah Beal and Kalia Walker picked up Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) weekly honors, the conference announced on Tuesday.
 
Beal repeated as the SWAC's Newcomer of the Week, averaging 31.6 minutes. She recorded 12.5 points, 3.5 boards, 2.0 steals and 1.0 assists per game. Beal paced the Bulldogs versus Richmond, scoring 16 points, along with three boards, two steals, one assist and one blocked shot.
 
Walker was selected the SWAC's Impact Player of the Week after helping the Bulldogs go 1-1 over the week. She averaged 13.0 points, 3.0 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game. She poured in 15 points, four assists, two boards and one steal in a victory over North Alabama.
 
Prairie View A&M's Crystal Schultz was chosen the SWAC Player of the Week.
 
Alabama A&M opens Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play on Jan. 1 as the Bulldogs visit Mississippi Valley State. Tip-off against the Devilettes is scheduled for 4 p.m. and streamed on SWAC TV.
