COVINGTON, Ga. | After going undefeated in a four-game opening weekend, the Alabama A&M softball team will head to Covington, Georgia to compete in the second annual Leonard Moody HBCU Softball Invitational this weekend.
The Bulldogs will play in five games in three days, starting with South Carolina State and Fort Valley State University on the first day before taking on Maryland Eastern Shore and Coppin State on the second day. To round out the weekend, AAMU will face North Carolina A&T for the final game on Sunday. The tournament will consist of 16 teams, seven of them being members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).
The Bulldogs opened their 2025 slate by going unbeaten in four games, the first time that has happened since 2015. The Maroon and White then faced Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) opponent Alcorn State in their first contest of the second day, defeating the Braves 10-1. The final two games were against SWAC foe Grambling State, where the Bulldogs recovered from being down 5-0 to solidify a 17-6 victory.
