D'Iberville, Miss | The Alabama A&M bowling team is set to compete in the 2025 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) East Round-Up this weekend at the Cypress Lanes in D'Iberville, Miss.

All eight bowling teams in the conference will participate in the second of two conference competitions that will determine the regular season conference champion. Competition will start on Friday at 10 a.m. and conclude on Sunday, with the first event starting at 9 a.m. Admission is free to the public. The eight teams will return to Cypress Lanes for the 2025 SWAC East Round-Up on February 7-9. 

At the SWAC West Round-Up, the Bulldogs placed first at the SWAC West Round-Up, finishing with a 11-3 record over the weekend. The Bulldogs were paced by Nila Dulcio and Rose Ugbinada's 2,770 and 2,655 games. The victory marks the third first place finish this season for the Bulldogs.

The Fall swing for the Bulldogs was capitalized by a pair of first place finished in both the Virginia Union Invitational and The Hornet Classic. AAMU went 9-1 during the Invitational, paced by Tamyra Long's 939 pins and Rose Ugbinada's 909 points, which landed them both on the All-Tournament team. The victory marked the teams first tournament win in 10 years. 

Alabama A&M went 9-1 at the Hornet classic and were paced once again by Long and Ugbinada's 904 and 903 pins respectively. Four of five Bulldogs found themselves in the top 15 of the scoring lists, with Long claiming the fifth spot and being named to the All-Tournament team. The tournament, hosted by in-state conference rival Alabama State, was attended by Jackson State, Southern University, Florida A&M University and Grambling State University. The complete schedule for the SWAC Bowling East Round-Up can be found here. AAMU will face Southern, Jackson State, FAMU, and Texas Southern on day one, Grambling, FAMU, Southern, and JSU on day two, and will take on Texas Southern, Alabama State, Grambling State and Prairie View A&M on the final day of competition.
