BIRMINGHAM, Ala.| The Alabama A&M University bowling team landed a fourth seed as they prepare for the 2025 Southwestern Athletic Conference Women's Bowling Tournament, set to be held Mar. 21-23 at the International Bowling Training and Research Center (ITRC) located in Arlington, Texas.
The three-day event features the leagues' top six teams at the conclusion of regular season play. Alabama A&M finished the SWAC East Round-Up with an 18-10 record over the weekend. The Bulldogs were paced by Rose Ugbinada and Tamyra Long's 2,561 and 2,603 total over the Round-up, which landed them both on the All-SWAC post season second team.
2025 SWAC Regular Season Co-Champion Alabama State enters the tournament as the No. 1 seed (21-7 SWAC) while Co-Champion Southern claimed the No. 2 seed (21-7 SWAC). The Jackson State Tigers claimed the No. 3 seed (19-9 SWAC) in the tournament. Prairie View A&M (16-12 SWAC) and Texas Southern (13-15 SWAC) claimed the final two tournament bids and will enter the tournament as the No. 5 and No. 6 seeds respectively.
The following format will be used during the event:
Friday/Saturday/Sunday (Mega Match Format: Best-of-three) – Double Elimination
- Five-person team match
- Baker Total Pinfall
- Best-of-seven Baker match play
Sunday (Championship Day) – Single Elimination
Best-of-seven
Tie-Breaker Format – During the tournament matches, the modified baker roll-off shall be used as the tie-breaking method.
