MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The Alabama A&M University softball team (12-11, 3-0 SWAC) will travel 190 miles south to face Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) in-state rival Alabama State in a three-game series on Friday and Saturday. Friday's game is set for 5 p.m. while the teams will face off at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday.
The Bulldogs continue their Alabama road swing after dropping a pair of games to Troy University in a mid-week doubleheader. The Maroon and White opened its conference schedule with three wins over Mississippi Valley State at the Bulldog Softball Field. Both Allyson Riches and Maria Paula Ocrospoma-Figueroa recorded home runs in the contests.
Alabama State has won just one of their last five contests, falling to Southern Mississippi, Jacksonville State, and dropping the last two of the three-game series with Florida A&M. The Hornets defeated FAMU in the conference opener, 2-1. The Hornets lead 36-28 in the all-time series with the Bulldogs.
The series will take place at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex on ASU's campus and all three games will be live streamed via Hornets Sports Network.
