THE HILL | The Alabama A&M softball team (8-8) returns to Rocket City to play a pair of series over three days. The Bulldogs will take on the Detroit Mercy Titans on Thursday at Noon and 2 p.m. before opening their Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) slate against Mississippi Valley State on Friday at 1 p.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

AAMU comes back to The Hill after a six-game road swing where they played a series against Incarnate Word in San Antonio before competing in the Longhorn Invitational, hosted by the University of Texas. The Bulldogs finished the series with UIW with a 3-2 victory over the Cardinals. The Maroon and White dropped a narrow 5-4 decision to New Mexico State in the second game of the Invitational, after a ninth-inning solo homerun put gave the Aggies the slight edge.

Detroit Mercy (1-8) travels to Huntsville after picking up their first win of the season, defeating University of Illinois-Chicago 3-2 (8) during the Jeannine McHaney Memorial Classic, hosted by Texas Tech. The Bulldogs and Titans meet for just the second time, the first coming over 15 years ago, and resulting in a UDM victory. After the pair of contests against AAMU, Detroit Mercy will head to Florence to participate in the UNA Tournament, where they will face state opponents Samford and North Alabama, along with the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

Mississippi Valley (1-11) looks to earn their first victory against a Division I program this season after picking up their only victory this season against Division II program Arlington Baptist during the River City Classic. AAMU has won 12 of the last 13 meetings with the Delta Devils, including two wins last season.
