BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Alabama A&M University women's tennis team earned a number four seed in the 2025 Women's Southwestern Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Tournament, the league announced Saturday.
The Bulldogs dropped just two conference matches, falling in slim 4-2 decisions to Alabama State and Florida A&M. AAMU swept Mississippi Valley State, Grambling State, Prairie View A&M, Alcorn State and Bethune-Cookman, and picked up a breadstick victory over Southern.
Alabama A&M will face PVAMU on Saturday at 9 a.m. in the quarterfinals round.
Jackson State enters the tournament as the No. 1 seed (8-1, SWAC) while Alabama State claimed the No. 2 seed (8-1, SWAC). Florida A&M claimed the No. 3 seed (7-2, SWAC) in the tournament followed by No. 4 seed Alabama A&M (7-2, SWAC). Prairie View A&M (5-4, SWAC) and Southern (4-5, SWAC) will enter the tournament as the No. 5 and No. 6 seeds respectively. Alcorn State (3-6, SWAC) and Grambling State (2-7, SWAC) claimed the final two tournament seeds and will enter the tournament as the No. 7 and No.8 seeds respectively.
The 2025 SWAC Women's Tennis Tournament is scheduled to be played on April 18-20 at City Park Tennis Center located in New Orleans, La.
