HUMBLE, Texas | The Alabama A&M University women's bowling team dropped one spot on Saturday to fifth place after going 2-3 during traditional matches in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) West Regional at the AMF Diamond Lanes.
Alabama A&M (5-5) is fifth after two rounds, with Jackson State leading the eight-team field at 8-2. Alabama State jumped up to a three-way tie for second at 6-4 with Texas Southern and Prairie View A&M. Southern is tied for fifth with Alabama A&M and Florida A&M (4-6) and Grambling State (0-10) are seventh and eighth, respectively.
The Bulldogs began the day with a 970-951 loss to Prairie View A&M but bounced back with a 961-851 victory over Jackson State in the second match. AAMU rolled to an 852-496 win over Grambling State but the Bulldogs dropped their final two matches to Texas Southern (920-911) and Alabama State (972-928).
Michele Westmoreland and
Rose Ugbinada were second and third respectively during traditional play. Westmoreland rolled a 244 against Jackson State and has recorded a 1,961 total pinfall. Meanwhile, Ugbinada tossed a 236 during Friday's opening round match against Grambling State and has a 1,901 total pinfall.
Alabama A&M closes out play in the SWAC West Regional on Sunday with the final day of action at the AMF Diamond Lanes.
