Jaida Belton received Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) weekly basketball honors, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Walker shot 55.0 percent (11-of-20) from the floor to help Alabama A&M to a perfect 2-0 record during the week, with victories over Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Mississippi Valley State. She averaged 17.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals in the two games. Against Mississippi Valley State, Walker was 7-of-12 shooting for 22 points, with three rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Belton averaged nearly a double-double in a pair of victories for the Bulldogs last week. She shot 52.2 percent (12-of-23) from the floor, averaging 13.0 points and 9.5 boards, along with 1.5 blocks, 1.0 assists and 1.0 steals. Against Mississippi Valley State, Belton posted a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds, along with two assists, two blocks and one steal.
Alabama State's Charlese McClendon was selected the SWAC Newcomer of the Week.
Alabama A&M returns to action in the Sunshine State on Thursday with a trip to Florida A&M. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. (CT) from the Al Lawson Center and streamed on SWAC TV.
