BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama A&M University junior infielder
Kali Austerman was selected the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Softball Hitter and Newcomer of the Week, the conference announced on Thursday.
Austerman helped Alabama A&M go 5-2 during the week. She batted .500, going 11-of-22 at the plate, with a pair of doubles and two home runs. In addition, she drove in 13 and scored 10 times. The Port Saint Joe, Fla. native drew six walks and was hit by a pitch once, and went 2-for-2 in stole base attempts. She opened the week by driving in four, courtesy of a grand slam, in a win over Western Illinois.
Alabama State's Kohana Pousson was selected the SWAC Pitcher of the Week.
Alabama A&M returns to action on Saturday with a doubleheader at East Tennessee State. First pitch for the opener against the Bucs is set for 12 p.m. from Betty Basler Field.
