THE HILL | The Alabama A&M University men's basketball team struggle from the floor shooting as the Bulldogs fell, 80-62, to Bethune-Cookman in a matchup of the top two Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) programs on Monday night at the AAMU Event Center.
Alabama A&M (12–10 overall, 5–4 SWAC) stayed within reach early, but Bethune-Cookman used transition scoring and defensive pressure to pull away in the second half.
The Wildcats (11-11, 8-1) opened the game with an early run before the Bulldogs responded behind strong interior play from
Koron Davis and P.J. Eason. AAMU trimmed the deficit to single digits midway through the half, but Bethune-Cookman capitalized on turnovers to build momentum.
Alabama A&M closed the half on a late push to cut the margin to 42–32 at the break.
Bethune-Cookman came out of halftime with renewed pace, extending the lead to double figures with fast-break buckets and interior finishes. The Bulldogs continued to battle inside, as Davis attacked the rim and
Angok Anyang provided energy off the bench, but the Wildcats answered each run to maintain control.
A late AAMU surge narrowed the deficit briefly, but Bethune-Cookman sealed the game with consecutive transition scores down the stretch to secure the 80–62 victory.
Koron Davis led the Bulldogs with 22 points, six boards and one steal, while
James Graham III added 10 points, three boards and one block.
