Grace Cruthis was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Softball Hitter and Newcomer of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Cruthis batted .643 during Alabama A&M's conference sweep of Mississippi Valley State over the weekend. She went 9-for-14 at the plate, with four extra-base hits, including three triples and one double.
The Patterson, Calif. native drove in seven and scored six times. In addition, she went 4-for-5 in the stolen base department. In the series opener, Cruthis went 4-for-4, with two runs scored, two RBIs and two stolen bases.
Texas Southern's Zaria Turner was selected the SWAC Pitcher of the Week.
Alabama A&M returns to Bulldog Field on Friday in a SWAC series opener against Alabama State. First pitch against the Hornets is slated for 3 p.m.
