Juan Osorio and
Sanyae Gibson won the 2000m steeplechase on Friday to highlight the opening day of the UAB Spring Invitational at the UAB Track & Field Complex.
Osorio won the event, crossing the finish line with a time of 6:12.51, which was seven seconds ahead of Trevecca Nazarene's Jack Jaeger (6:19.83).
Gibson was a full 11 seconds ahead of Bela Doss, of Sanford, finishing with a personal-best time of 7:24.53 to win the event.
WOMEN'S FIELD
- Leah Brown finished seventh in the hammer throw, with a toss of 42.57m
MEN'S FIELD
- In the hammer throw, Frankie Pollock placed sixth, with a personal-best mark of 46.85m
- Cameron Andrews took second in the long jump, with a mark of 6.80m
