THE HILL | For the fourth straight week, the Alabama A&M University women's basketball team received votes in the CollegeInsider.com mid-major top 25. The Bulldogs received 24 votes and is the lone Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) program receiving votes.
Alabama A&M is riding a 16-game winning streak and is 20-9 overall, 16-1 in league play. On Tuesday night, the Bulldogs secured the SWAC women's basketball regular season title for the first time in school history.
The Bulldogs rank tops in the conference in several statistical categories, including free-throw attempts per game (seventh nationally), scoring defense (12
th nationally), field goal percentage defense (15
th nationally), free throws made per game (21
st nationally), field goal percentage and scoring margin.
The Maroon & White, the top seed in next week's SWAC Women's Basketball Tournament at the Gateway Center Arena in Atlanta, Ga., concludes the regular season on Thursday against Southern. Tip-off against the Jaguars is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. from the AAMU Event Center and streamed on SWAC TV.
