THE HILL | Alabama A&M University women's soccer delivered a strong performance Sunday afternoon, shutting out South Carolina State, 3-0, at AAMU Soccer Field.
The Bulldogs struck early, with Jordyn Washington finding the back of the net in the third minute off an assist from Moriah Watkins to give Alabama A&M a 1-0 advantage. The Bulldogs carried the lead into halftime while holding South Carolina State without a shot on target.
Alabama A&M continued to apply pressure in the second half, eventually doubling its lead in the 69th minute. Czaske Deane scored her first goal of the afternoon off assists from Layla Griffin and Brea Bailey, putting the Bulldogs ahead 2-0.
Deane added her second goal in the 85th minute, completing the scoring and securing the 3-0 victory for Alabama A&M.
The Bulldogs controlled possession throughout the match, holding a 63-37 advantage, while outshooting South Carolina State 12-6 and putting eight shots on target. Alabama A&M also earned seven corner kicks compared to three for the Lady Bulldogs.
Defensively, Adriana Durango helped preserve the shutout with one save after entering the match early in the first half. The Bulldogs limited South Carolina State to just one shot on goal.
With the victory, Alabama A&M improves to 2-4-2 on the season.
