FLORENCE, Ala. | Alabama A&M volleyball suffered its first loss of the season Wednesday evening, falling to North Alabama in straight sets inside CB&S Bank Arena at Flowers Hall.
The Bulldogs (3-1) battled throughout the opening frame before narrowly dropping the set, 25-23. North Alabama (4-0) carried the momentum into the remaining two sets, earning 25-17 and 25-18 victories to gain the win.
Gerren Tomlin led Alabama A&M offensively with 11 kills and added seven digs. Rayishon Jackman delivered an all-around performance, recording a double-double with 10 kills and a team-high 11 digs. She also finished with three solo blocks and three assists.
Nhya Morgan contributed three kills while hitting a team-best .400, and Scholar Bates added three kills and two block assists.
Briana Smith paced the Bulldogs with 16 assists and collected five digs, while Kaydee Smith dished out 12 assists to go along with five digs. Kelani Talakai matched Tomlin with seven digs on the defensive end.
Alabama A&M finished the match with 37 kills, 36 assists, 46 digs and eight total blocks. The Bulldogs hit .257 during the closely contested opening set but finished with a .153 hitting percentage for the match.
