ORANGEBURG – With a two hour delay due to rain and the previous contest going long the Lady Bulldog softball team split their final two contests of the Claflin University Tournament.

The A&M softball bats remained warm as they connected on nine runs off of 10 hits. They would defeat the Clark Atlanta University Panthers 9-3. Senior pitcher Cassandra Brown posted four strikeouts and earned her second win of the year. Chelsey Ferguson was 2 of 4 from the plate but reached base all four times due to Clark Atlanta errors.  Taiya McInnes finished 4 of 5, with three runs batted in and a run.  Of the nine runs AAMU scored, four of those were produced by McInnes. Ashley Gonzales ended the game 2 of 5 with a pair of singles.

"Defensively we played a great game," head coach Nakeya Hall stated.  "Raven Grubbs made a great play in center field."

In the final game the Brenau University Golden Tigers took advantage of the Lady Bulldogs catching them off guard to the tune of an 8-0 victory.

Taiya McInnes, Viridiana Ramos accounted for the only two hits on the day. Meghan Gray took her first loss of the year.

"This was a humbling experience for not only me but the entire team," Hall recalled.  "It showed us we have a lot more work to do."

The Lady Bulldogs will take a few days off then head to Montgomery, Alabama for the Alabama State University tournament Friday, Feb. 14, through Sunday Feb., 16th.
