Alabama A&M Football Earns Four Spring 2021 BOXTOROW HBCU Preseason All-Americans

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Entering the unique Spring 2021 season as one of the top teams in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), Alabama A&M will do so with four BOXTOROW HBCU Preseason All-American's as announced by that organization on Tuesday, February 2.

Now in its 14th season, BOXTOROW has named its top 26 players on offense, defense and special teams for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU). Among them are four Bulldogs in sophomore wide receiver Abdul-Fatai Ibrahim (Miramar, Fla.), senior tight end Kendric Johnson (New Market, Ala.), junior linebacker Marcus Cushnie (Broward County, Fla.) and redshirt-senior cornerback Amari Holloway (Pinson, Ala.).

Each is already an All-SWAC Preseason First-Team selection entering this year and are among 15 total selections from the league on this year's team.

Kendric Johnson, Tight End
A prolific pass catcher out of a traditionally blocking position, Johnson earned his spot on the team following All-SWAC Second-Team honors a year ago as he record 24 catches for 275 yards. While playing in all 12 games he snagged four touchdowns and averaged better than 11 yards a grab.

Abdul-Fatai Ibrahim, Wide Receiver
One of the top wideouts in the SWAC, Ibrahim played in 11 games last year, snaring 59 balls and racking up 1,004 yards, second most on the team and one of just three in the league to reach that plateau. On top of that he led A&M with 11 receiving touchdowns. He also placed in the top five in the league in receiving yards and TDs, receptions per game (5.4) and receiving yards per game (91.3), earning him SWAC Freshman of the Year honors along the way.

Marcus Cushnie, Defensive Lineman
An anchor on the defensive line, Cushnie is poised to build off of a 2019 First-Team All-SWAC recognition that saw him produce 39 tackles -- 27 solo -- and a team-best seven sacks. He also notched eight quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles, a recovery and a blocked kick while playing in all 12 games.

Armoni Holloway, Linebacker
A devastating defender, Holloway was a Second-Team All-SWAC choice a year ago and aims for more in 2021. He is coming off of a 2019 campaign that saw him deliver 114 total tackles, 62 of them on his own, and three QB hurries. No stranger to the backfield, he also registered four sacks and a team-high 14.5 tackles for loss.

Alabama A&M enters the 2021 season having been picked to finish second in the SWAC East Division and with a league-best nine All-SWAC Preseason selections, including five First-Team honorees. The Bulldogs will kickoff the season on Saturday, February 27 when they take on two-time defending league champion Alcorn State at Louis Crews Stadium.
