KILLEN, Ala. | The Alabama A&M University men's golf team opened play on Monday at the MartinFed Invitational as the Bulldogs closed out 36 holes with a 619 at the Turtle Point Yacht & Country Club.
Alabama A&M will enter tomorrow's final round 11th after shooting a 309 during the first 18 holes and ending the second round with a 310.
Auburn leads the 11-team field, firing an 18-under par 558 and holds a one-shot lead over North Alabama (559). North Alabama's "B" team sits in third with a 567. Purdue Fort Wayne is third (577), followed by Lindenwood (585), Southeastern Louisiana (585), Samford (586), Rollins College (590) and Western Illinois (602).
Samuel Boodie led AAMU during the opening day, carding a 7-over-par 151 and is tied for 51st. Kourey Patterson and Niall Bagnall are 58th and 59th, respectively after firing a 154 and 155. Fabian Sanchez Torres is tied for 66th at 162, while Emilio Angel fired a 168.
JP Cave, of Alabama, is the leader through two rounds, firing back-to-back 67s and is 10 under. Josiah Gilbert, of Auburn, is second at 9 under, while North Alabama's Corey Maher and Troy's Lee Poppell are tied for third at 8 under.
