BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama A&M freshman
Yana Dhamija was voted to the All-SWAC Second Team by the league's coaches and sports information directors, announced Thursday as part of its postseason awards unveiling.
Dhamija, a Gururgram, India, native becomes the fourth straight all-conference selection on the women's side under head coach Willis Mbandi and the program. She is also the second straight No. 5 singles Second Team selection, after
Neha Ghare earned the honor last season.
Dhamija compiled a 5-11 overall record and 5-5 at the No. 5 spot on the year in her first as a collegiate tennis player, and a 4-2 mark in the SWAC. In doubles play, Dhamija went 6-5 paired with senior
Jasmine Boyd, including a 3-3 record in the conference.
The Bulldogs will return to play this weekend as they travel to New Orleans, Louisiana for the SWAC Tennis Tournament, held at the City Park Tennis Center.
