Amiah Simmons was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.

Simmons averaged 22.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals as Alabama A&M completed season sweeps of Florida A&M and Bethune-Cookman. She shot 42.9 percent (12-of-28) from the floor and 66.7 percent (4-of-6) from behind the 3-point line. In addition, the Overland Park, Kan. native went 16-of-20 (80.0 percent) from the foul line. In AAMU's 63-58 win over Bethune-Cookman, Simmons poured in 26 points, on 7-of-14 shooting, with six boards, two assists and two steals.

Alabama A&M returns to action on Saturday as the Bulldogs play host to rival Alabama State. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. from the AAMU Event Center and streamed on Bulldogs All-Access.
