About The Game
The game against the Tigers will mark the only time that A&M will play at home in back-to-back weeks following Homecoming the week before against Bethune-Cookman.
It will also be the last home game for 42 days as the Bulldogs will not return to Louis Crews until the regular season finale when they host Texas Southern on November 19.
While that is a significant stretch, it pales in comparison to the four seasons since GSU last set foot on the turf at Crews, that coming on November 10, 2018. They were scheduled to return in 2020 but that game was a casualty of the pandemic, eventually getting moved to March 27, 2021 before being cancelled due to COVID-19 protocols and last year's meeting returned to Louisiana.
The date will also be a rematch of an epic back-and-forth affair in that game when Grambling escaped with a 37-28 victory in the final minutes.
Series History vs. Grambling
The Bulldogs and Tigers go back a ways, with most of that in the program's NCAA Division I era. Looking at the series history dating from 1998,
GSU holds an impressive 20-6 advantage and has won the last six meetings.
The latter dates to October 4, 2014 with a 38-28 victory at Louis Crews Stadium following AAMU's last win, a 23-9 decision on August 31, 2013 at Grambling. Most recently the Tigers escaped with a 37-28 decision in the Bayou on October 2, 2021.
Series Flashback
With a series that spans 26 games, we go all the way back to 2006 for a thrilling matchup that propelled the Bulldogs back into the national rankings for the first time since 2003. In that one they pulled out a 30-27 win in the final seconds at Crews. Check out
