HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – With the close of the 2020-21 campaign, the Alabama A&M Sports Information Office is producing a Season in Review for each of the program's 14 sports that competed during the year.
That series will begin with the fall season before progressing to the winter and spring campaigns. Each week reviews will be released on Mondays and Wednesdays until concluding with the final spring sport on Wednesday, July 28 and a Department Season in Review on Monday, August 2.
Today we take a look back at the 2021 Baseball season.

2020-21 Season in Review
- Went 9-20 overall and 9-13 in SWAC play.
- Returned to the SWAC Tournament for first time since 2017, earning the No. 3 seed out of the East Division.
- Delivered program record tying seven game win streak from April 16-23, sweeping a four game set from Mississippi Valley State and three games from Alcorn State. That streak equaled the 2010 team for the longest since moving to Division I, a mark that was also the longest since the 1996 club won eight in a row.
- First year head coach Elliott Jones earned his first career win with a 9-2 decision over Alcorn State on March 19 and A&M knocked off rival Alabama State 10-8 at Toyota Field on April 1.
Individual Achievements/Honors
- Figueroa was named SWAC Co-Pitcher of the Week on March 25 following seven shutout innings and 12 strikeouts in Jones first career victory.
- Teddy Bridges started all 29 games while leading the team with a .308 average, 32 hits, seven doubles and tying for the club lead with a pair of homeruns to go with 14 RBIs. He was also 14-of-19 on the basepaths.
- Janmikell Bastardo came away with five doubles, three triples and pair of homeruns to go with a team-high 17 RBIs and 14 walks in 26 games, 25 starts.
- Pierre Brewton scored 17 runs behind 22 hits and added nine RBIs, 14 free passes and three hit by pitch along with going 9-of-11 in stolen bases.
- Trevor Berkemeyer started all 29 games, plating 16 runs, scoring 16 himself and tying for the team lead with 16 walks. He had five doubles, three triples and a homerun and was a perfect 8-of-8 on the bases.
