HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – With the close of the 2020-21 campaign, the Alabama A&M Sports Information Office is producing a Season in Review for each of the program's 14 sports that competed during the year.
That series will begin with the fall season before progressing to the winter and spring campaigns. Each week reviews will be released on Mondays and Wednesdays until concluding with the final spring sport on Wednesday, July 28 and a Department Season in Review on Monday, August 2.
Today we take a look back at the 2021 Softball season.

2020-21 Season in Review
- Went 11-19 overall and 8-10 in SWAC play.
- Won three in a row as part of five wins in six games from March 13-26. Included doubleheader sweep of Tuskegee and series win over Southern.
- Swept regular season ending three-game series with Mississippi Valley State with wins of 4-3, 4-3 and 4-1 from April 30 through May 1.
Individual Achievements/Honors
- Coe became first Alabama A&M softball player on record, and certainly in the Division I era, to be named to All-Conference twice in the same year. She would do so with First-Team selections as both a pitcher and designated player.
- For just the second time in program history, and the first in 15 years, Coe delivered Freshman of the Year honors in the SWAC. On the year she went 9-9 with a 3.88 ERA and 86 strikeouts in 121 innings while hitting .314 with five homeruns and 17 RBIs.
- Rachael McKinney batted .311 with three homeruns, five doubles and nine RBIs while starting all 30 games.
- Catcher Haleigh Winter notched 11 RBIs and three doubles and a homerun among her 16 hits in 28 games and 27 starts.
- Taylor Woods hit .270 with a double, two triples and a homerun while going 8-of-9 on the bases.
