HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – With the close of the 2021-22 campaign, the Alabama A&M Sports Information Office is producing a Season in Review for each of the program's 16 sports from the past year.
That series began with the fall season before progressing to the winter and spring campaigns. Each week reviews will be released on Mondays and Wednesdays until concluding with the final spring sport on Monday, July 18 and a Department Season in Review on Wednesday, July 20. Today we take a look back at the 2021-22 Baseball season.

2021-22 Season in Review
- Had key performances against non-conference members including an 11-9 victory against C-USA member Alabama-Birmingham (3/5) and an 8-2 win over ASUN team North Alabama (5/10).
- Delivered upset victories against Florida A&M (4/23) with a 6-5 score before capturing the series against 2021 SWAC Tournament Champion Jackson State (3/25) with an 8-3 and 15-9 wins.
- They would then go on to sweep Mississippi Valley State from May 7-8 notching 5-4, 5-0 and 10-5 victories.
- The Bulldogs upended Bethune Cookman (5/14) with a 5-4 decision before shocking future tournament champion and rival Alabama State (5/21) with a 10-7 win to end the season on Senior Day.
Individual Achievements/Honors
- Graduate right fielder Tim Dixon (Debary, Fla.) led the Bulldogs performance by being named to the All-SWAC Second-Team after delivering a strong season by starting all 49 games and finishing with 34 runs, six home runs, 11 doubles, four triples and 32 RBIs.
- Dixon's selection was the first for the program since the 2018-19 season.
- Two of his best outings in the Maroon and White came as he delivered a 2-for-4 day, five RBIs, a double and a triple against Milwaukee (2/18) and also went 3-for-5 with three RBIs, a home run and scored two runs in the 11-9 victory over UAB.
- Junior catcher Jared Tribett (Lumberton, Miss.) sealed his 2022 campaign with a whopping 10 home runs which placed him third in the league.
- He was also named SWAC Hitter of the Week on March 30 after a stellar weekend that helped AAMU take the series against JSU by delivering two home runs, a pair of runs and an impressive seven RBIs over three days.
- Senior pitcher Josue Torres (Cidra, Puerto Rico) added to the weekly honors by being named Pitcher of the Week on May 11. Torres helped the Bulldogs secure a 5-0 victory against MVSU (5/7) as he threw a game shutout while striking out six.
- Junior first baseman Trevor Berkemeyer delivered 25 runs while producing 25 RBIs, notching seven doubles, a triple and two home runs for the season. Berkemeyer played a key role in helping the Bulldogs win their series against JSU, going 2-for-4, with four RBIs, a run and a double in an 8-3 victory in the opener.
- He would then have a stellar performance against LeMoyne-Owen with a 3-for-4 day, four RBIs, three scored runs, a double and a triple.
- Graduate left fielder Nemo Wright (PG County, Md.) was a key contributor for AAMU, starting 37 games and posting a batting average of .267.
- Wright scored 28 runs which was the second highest on the team to go with his 14 RBIs. and 24 stolen bases which was the most of any Bulldog this season.
- Senior designated hitter Teddy Bridges (Montgomery, Ala.) scored 22 runs and delivered 20 RBIs and eight walks.
- Senior catcher Dillon Roop (New Market, Ala.) delivered two of his best outings against strong non-conference opponents in Memphis and against Valparaiso in which he had a 2-for-4 day with two RBIs, a home run and a run and launched a home run as part of a 2-for-3 day with two RBIs and a run, respectively.
- Junior infielder Janmikel Bastardo (Fort Myers, Fla.) had the highest batting average for the Bulldogs with .354. He scored 24 runs and had 16 RBIs, four homeruns and three doubles while stealing 11 bases in total for the season.
- He was also crucial in helping the Bulldogs take the series against Jackson State by going 2-for-3 while adding two runs for the 8-3 victory on the first day. He was then 3-of-4 while scoring four runs to seal the 15-9 win on the final day.
