Barry Wagner produced one of the greatest receiving seasons in Alabama A&M, SIAC and NCAA Division II history in 1989. He set an NCAA Division II single-season record with 112 receptions while totaling 1,817 receiving yards. Against Clark Atlanta, Wagner established school single-game records with 23 receptions, 370 receiving yards and five touchdowns. He was named SIAC Player of the Year, earned Associated Press and Football News Division II All-America honors and participated in the 1989 Senior Bowl. Wagner also received Harlon Hill Award recognition and surpassed several Alabama A&M receiving marks, including records held by Hall of Famer John Stallworth, one of the program’s most celebrated atheltes.
