While Shannon R. Perkins delighted audiences with her performances as a member of the AAMU volleyball team, she took extra care to make certain that she achieved academically. She achieved MVP honors in 1998, made the 1st Team in 1999, and rounded out the year with MVP and All-SWAC designations in 1998 and 1999. Perkins is a special education paraprofessional for the Muscle Shoals (Ala.) City School System.
